Resume
Rev Ken Downey was born in 1940 and received Christ as Lord and Savior when he was 16 years old. Ken began to grow and serve the Lord in the local
church and the youth ministries, young life, and youth for Christ. Ken and Carolyn have been married since 1961 and they have 5 children and 14 grandchildren.
Ministry involvements through the years have included pastoring in Illinois, missionary outreach to counterculture people in the Chicago area,
Native American missions in British Columbia Canada, Oklahoma, and Minnesota. Ken ran Wilderness Learning and Character Building Camps
and Expeditions in the Wyoming mountains during the 1970's and early 80's and joined the ministries staff of Oak Hills Bible College and
Fellowship in 1986. He is currently a missionary at large, doing Evangelistic speaking and preaching and developing a Christian
retreat in Minnesota through Trailside Ministries which he founded. Ken commemorates the early method of ministry know as
"Circuit Rider Preachers" that was so effectively used by God to penetrate the wilderness and frontier of our new nation.
His authentic horseback ministry is enjoyed by churches, community events, and commemorative encounters. His messages
are directed at all ages and carry the elements of challenge, commitment, and encouragement. His prayer is that God blesses
in a special way every heart that seeks the Lord through his ministry. Message: As the image of a horse riding preacher
brings to memory the pioneer ministry of the past,
the message is, however, relevant to the present
and future days of the American people
and their country.
Ken Downey is a very unique person
with a unique ministry. I have known
Ken for quite some time and
I highly recommend his
ministry and materials. He is
a faithful and sound servant of Jesus Christ.
